When you want to work at home, you’re going to find that there are a lot of people out there that want to get your money. Working at home is going to be no different than if you worked in an office. Work is always going to be work, and money will never come easy. As long as you have the mindset that money never comes easy, you shouldn’t have a problem spotting a scam.
How to spot a work at home scam
Research the company: The first thing that you want to do is research the company. A quick Google search can quickly determine if the site is a scam or not. If you’re not finding much information on the Internet, check with the BBB to see if they have a rating.
Money doesn’t come easy: I can’t stress this enough. Working at home is going to be just as hard as working in the office. It’s going to take discipline, and a lot of work. If you think you can just click a button, and $20 shows up in your account, you’re crazy! You need to drop this mindset right now.
Most places don’t make you pay: If you’re wanting to make money, a company will need your services, so you will most likely not have to pay. Just think about this for a second. If you wanted a job at McDonalds, would they charge you $50 or so to start working? It sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
Find people that work with them: Try and find some people that work with this company. Do a search on job searching sites like LinkedIn, and others that can potentially find people that are employed with them. This is great for those to network, and ask them how they like their job.
Some things don’t work: Some projects will never work. Things like envelope stuffing, and others are always scams. You don’t want to buy into this, because you will find that they are just taking you for a run for your money.
Doing your research can take you a far way. Make sure you know what you’re doing, and how to spot a scam. If it sounds too good to be true, it always will be too good to be true.
