Ways for Kids to Make Money

Are you a kid under 18?  Looking for ways to make some extra money?  Why not try these tips in order to make some decent cash!

Take on a Paper Route

Paper routes are a great way to make some money as a child. All one needs to do is work with a parent in obtaining the newspapers. Then you’ll need a bike or wagon. One must deliver newspapers before school, so it is the perfect first job for a child in middle school. Collections for a paper route can be done at nights, but mostly on weekends. This type of job is a great learning experience for a child. It teaches them responsibility and the importance of being on time.

Babysit

This is often the first job most teenagers take on. The way to obtain babysitting jobs is to hand out flyers, post advertising within your middle school, or have one’s parents reach out to other parents for job opportunities. Typically babysitting or child care jobs will pay from $5 to $10 per hour.

Shovel Snow

One of the best ways for a child to make money is assisting neighbors clearing their driveways of snow. These jobs are needed, and usually the child is available because school has been delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather.  To get these jobs, simply walk around your neighborhood and spot which houses haven’t started to shovel snow. Then walk up and ring the doorbell and ask if the homeowner would like to have their walk or driveway shoveled. These types of jobs pay between $5-$10 per hour.

Pet Sitter

These jobs are needed because people need to have someone watch their pets when they are at work or away on vacation. A child can handle basic responsibilities of feeding a cat, changing its litter and making certain the cat has plenty of water. Also kids can take care of small dogs, birds, or fish. To get these jobs, post advertisements at the local supermarket or post flyers in your neighborhood.
