8 Ways for Kids to Make Money

As a kid, you’re going to find it pretty rough to get hired by a grocery store, or even a fast food establishment.  If you’re under the age of 16 and you’re motivated to make money, I know it can be tough to find some job opportunities.

I wanted to list 9 ideas that you can use today if you’re looking to make money on the side as  a child.

#1 Babysitting - Ask some friends or family members if they even need a babysitter.  If the neighborhood trusts you, you may also hang around some flyers.  It doesn’t hurt to become CPR certified.

#2 Clean up – Ask people if they need their yard cleaned up.  People will pay some good money to have their leaves raked, as well as weeds picked.  You can make an average of $20 a pick up.

#3 Dog Walk - There are a lot of people out there that don’t have time to walk their own dog!  Ask around and see if you can walk a dog on a daily basis.  This is great for those that live near by.

#4 Do chores - If you live in an elderly community, this is a great way to help those in need.  You can clean gutters, help around the house, and more.  Yes, some older people can be cheap!

#5 Snow removal - For those in a colder climate, you can shovel driveways / sidewalks in the winter.  This is something that everyone needs to do, so take advantage!

#6 Junk sale - While you can’t do this all the time, get all the junk loaded up in your house and have a weekend yard sale.  Make sure that you advertise it in the paper though!

#7 Look for odd jobs – There are a lot of construction companies and other places that will pay you a few bucks under the table to do jobs such as cleaning up, washing, and more.

#8 Get in eBay - Ask your mom and dad if you can start selling things on eBay.  Yes, its just like the junk / yard sale, but get into making things and more.   There’s a lot of money to be made here.

Yes, you’re going to read the same things over and over on the web.  What you’re going to find out is that there really aren’t a lot of opportunities when you’re under the age of 16.  While you can try to apply for retail / fast food jobs, there’s no guarantee that you’re going to get hired.
