Making Extra Money as Teacher

Are you a teacher that is looking to make even more money? If so, there are several things you can do. The ideas are endless, so to start we’ll give you a few of ours.
Tutor Students – A great way to make extra money, if you’re a teacher is to tutor children after school. This can be done privately, with the teacher visiting the child at their residence, or at a business such as Sylvan Learning Center. Teachers that have specializations, such as math, science, and reading certifications make very good extra money tutoring students. The hours are usually short, usually two to three hours during the week. The pay can range from $20 to $40 an hour.
Counselor – Teachers have the luxury of having the summer months off. One way to earn extra money is to work at a day camp. These camps seek adults who have a good rapport with children. And these adults are available to work because they have off during the summer months. These jobs usually run from July to August during the week, 8AM to 5:30PM. Pay for these jobs averages $20/hr to $25/hr. Look on the internet to get a listing of day camps in your area. Gym and art teachers will have no problem getting work at a camp.
Coach a Sport – Teachers often make extra money coaching a sport at their school, especially in junior and senior high school. School sports mostly last one season, football in the fall, baseball in the spring, lacrosse in the spring etc. These coaches will spend time after school conducting practices, and the game are typically in the afternoon, as well (except football, which can be played at night). Teachers usually get paid a flat fee for coaching a sport. Check with your principal or school administrator for compensation.
Run and After School Club – These clubs often have teacher sponsors and the teacher is usually compensated for their efforts. Teachers can sponsor clubs such as creative writing, theater, science and chess clubs, and the school paper.
As you can see, there are unlimited ideas to making extra money. Not to mention, a lot of these side jobs would be a lot of fun to run!
