Did you know you can make $100+/month with paid surveys?.

Laid Off: Now What?

You just got the dread letter that you’re going to be laid off.  Well, you’re not the only one in this economy, and if it makes you feel any better, you’re going to find out that no matter how great this economy is, there is always someone losing their job out there.

As long as you have an education, and some skill, you will never have a problem finding a job again.  What you’re going to find out are the people that are unemployed are the ones that want to be, expect way too much for their skill set, or they simply don’t want to move.

Now that I’m laid off, how can I land another job?

Do you have skills? If you just came off a factory job that paid $35 a hour, it’s going to be awfully hard to find that type of job again.  Instead, you’re really going to have to open your eyes, and know what you’re worth.  If your skill is putting a door on a car all day, there really isn’t a demand for that.  I don’t want to sound mean, but it’s the truth.  As long as you’re honest with yourself, it’s going to make the job process easier.

Start now! Statistics show that people don’t search for a job until their unemployment is going to run out.  Unemployment stinks, and it doesn’t pay that much.  Keep your motivation going, and find a job NOW.  You don’t want to take 35 weeks off, because you’re going to find that it’s going to be really hard to get back into the workforce.

Continue your education: As I mentioned in point 1, you’ll want to go out, and expand your skills.  College isn’t cheap, but if you look at it as an investment, it can really pay off.  You don’t necessarily have to go to school either.  Absorbing knowledge on a particular subject takes time, and effort.  If you have those 2 great characteristics, you can go really far.

Job searching is a job: What many people find out that job searching is a job.  Get out there, look online, and apply for jobs.  If you have to, join groups, and network.  You want to sell yourself.  As long as you have a positive attitude, you can really take yourself a far way.  As long as you don’t give up, and you think positive, you can make things happen.

There are a few things that you should keep in mind.  You’ll want to know your market value, you’ll want to know your skills, you’ll want to have a positive mindset, and you’ll want to work hard.  If you can accomplish all 4 of those things, I can almost promise you that you can find a job, because remember that when 10% of the United States is unemployed, 90% is working!
