Most of us out there work a 9-5 job, or something like that. If you’re looking to make more money at your job, you may want to follow a few of these tips, to potentially increase your paycheck numbers.
Work more hours
The first way to make more money on the job that you already have is to work more hours. If you are not working the standard 40 hours increase the number of hours that you work. You might have to open up the hours that you are available or take on another day or possibly stay later but if you are not working the maximum number of hours per week this is a great place to start increase how much money you take home.
Cut down deductions
If you need to take home more money it is important to manage the amount of money that is deducted from your check on a week or biweekly basis. This can be done by eliminating deductions for unnecessary expenses such as charitable contributions, extra life insurance, or other company benefits that you elect and pay for. If you get a refund every year you can also increase the amount of money that you take home by changing your tax with-holdings to a more realistic amount.
Work overtime
Another way to make more money on the job you already have is to work overtime. Normally the amount that you are paid for overtime is higher than your regular pay amount, sometimes time and a half or double time. The easiest way to get overtime is to volunteer for jobs that are outside of your normal responsibilities. Overtime is also often available during seasonal increases in business or when the business is going to have company from home office. If you do an excellent job on your regular duties they are likely to accept your offer to help out when there are special circumstances that require over time.
Take a promotion
Another way to make more money on the job you already have is to take a promotion. Just start signing up when job promotions are posted. If you do good work and you are dependable eventually you are going to get a promotion. It is also important to express your desire to move up to your supervisors. When they begin thinking about who to promote they might consider you if they know that you have a desire to move up and if they feel like you are capable of handling the responsibility. That’s where being dependable and working hard pays off.
