How Do you Know if A Paid Survey is Legitimate?

A get a few emails in my inbox here and there asking about paid surveys. If you’re new to the game, I wanted to hopefully answer any questions you may have. For any questions in the future, you can contact me at tom(at)findmysurveys.com.
Today’s question comes from someone named Ben. He asks the following question…
How do I know if a paid survey that I’m signing up for is legit? I don’t want to get ripped off, nor do I want to get scammed!
For starters, you’re going to find that there’s a lot of information out there. There are so many sites that you can join, so how do you know who is the best of the best. You can’t just trust Google to give you the answers.
I’m going to basically give you a nice little cliff notes version that you can use, in order to find a legitimate survey company that’s going to work for you.
#1 For starters, look at my survey directory that I have created. I will update this on a weekly basis. I will do the hardcore work for you, as well as grade them to tell you what you’re getting yourself into. I never EVER list scams on my site. If you find one, let me know.
#2 I know you don’t want to trust my site right away, but that’s fine! Another thing to do is check with the BBB. The BBB will list any legit company, as well as give them a grade. If they have a grade above an A, this is a great sign. Anything under a C+, I would run!
#3 Gather the reviews online and see what other people think. The other thing that you’re going to want to look into is to check and see if you can find payment proof. Check for check images. If they pay, that’s a great sign.
#4 Don’t download anything , or ever give out a credit card number. That’s just going to spell disaster for you. Play it safe and only give them your name, address, and sometimes you may have to give your phone number for verification purposes.
It’s really not that hard to find a legitimate company. Now, don’t expect to make $1,000 in your first month. It’s going to take time to gather up referrals, as well as do your homework. Scour the web, as well as my directory, and see what you can come up with.
