Finding Jobs for High School Graduates

Getting out of High School is a fun period.  This is when you become an adult, and enter your way into the real world.  Some of us like it, while a lot us want to go back to the stress free way of living at Mom, and Dad’s house.  So, how do you find a job, after you get out of High School?  Is it hard?  How quick can I find one?  Let me help you as I answer some of the most common questions.

You’re not worth much: Let’s face it, you’re probably going to college, or trying to further your education.  If you’re not, you can plan on that fantastic $11 a hour retail job the rest of your life.  While that doesn’t sound like fun to me, it’s going to be the ideal job while going to college.  Try your best to get into a field that’s going to be related to your career.  Even if it doesn’t pay much, experience is as good as a degree.

Search online for your job: Again, since you’re a college student, you’re probably not going to have a college degree, and that’s okay!  What you’re going to want to do is try job searching websites such as SnagAJob.  These sites will help you find jobs that are looking for hourly workers, not ones that have degrees.

Treat the job search with respect: An hourly job is just as good as a college job.  You want to prove to your employer that you can show up on time, do the job, and do it right.  By doing so, you’re going to find out that if you’re in a big enough company, you can work your way up the ladder.  I know a lot of people that went off to get college degrees, and they ended up moving up the chain just where they worked at, and there’s nothing wrong with that picture!

Graduation again, is a fun time, but it’s time to transform into an adult.  You can’t rely on your parents anymore, and you can’t rely on your friends to let you borrow money.  If you’re like me, you’re going to want to live a life where you can actually afford things, not having to rely on others.  That’s not the life to live.
