Collectable Coins – Building your Collection

One of the most fun and exciting ways I have ever found to make extra money is the buying, selling, and trading of coins on EBay. Over the years, I have been able to amass a small collection of coins that interest me by constantly looking for bargains and no bids in EBay’s coin section.
Every week, hundreds of thousands of coins are auctioned off on this worldwide website. The key is to know enough about coins to try and spot a bargain and then try as hard as you can to get the high bid and purchase the coin. Many times, unassuming sellers do not list coins correctly and know absolutely nothing about the grading and marketing of rare coins. I have been studying and trading coins since I was a little boy and as I grew older, I began to quickly understand how profits could be made by knowing what to look for in the coin market. Also, a quick study of the precious metals markets can allow you to bid on gold and silver lots of coins that may be undervalued in price because they are sold in a group instead of individually. You could then split up the lot, keep what you want out of it, and then relist each of the other coins individually in order to try and maximize the amount of return that you could receive from each coin.
More often than not, you can also find coins that are listed in the wrong categories and hardly bidded on by buyers. This will often allow you to jump on a bargain coin and become the winning bidder. However, you should always beware of coins that look “to good to be true.” Do not bid on coins that look like they may have been cleaned, altered, polished, or scratched. Also, when looking at rare coins online, if a truly rare date is displayed, check the seller’s feedback to make sure that it is not a fake or replication. Many coins from overseas sellers are often fake and you do not have a chance of getting your money back.
In closing, watch Ebay coin auctions and look for bargains on last minute bid items. Many great deals can be obtained for resale or to simply add to your own collection.
